Our hosting service jerked around with some of my billing information which explains the absense of my ramblings for the last few days.
Those of you in the Dallas area looking for something to do tonight, Next 6 Exits is making a rare appearance tonight at UNT (click on Events and then Bruce Jam). We’ve got about a 45 minute set at 9:00. It will most assuredly be a good time for all in attendance. I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of folks in attendance too. Shoot me an e-mail if you’re up for heading to that.
Back to the grindstone tomorrow.
Last night the wife and I were talking about how to improve our quality of life. It’s been a constant theme in our discussions over the last couple of months but it’s not ever come down to an actual conversation about the “quality of life.” I wonder how an improvement in the quality of life could happen without a change of scenery.
Now, don’t get me wrong. We’re not unhappy–rather, it’s quite the opposite. I just don’t think that certain things in life are bringing the fulfillment we desire…namely our jobs. It’s difficult to write about this without sounding like I’m whining. I’m not sure that where we are allows us to live life to its fullest.
I think.
I think I need to think about this some more. Your thoughts?
In the meantime, the downtime is over. Back to work. A few pounds heavier. Striving to find contentment in where we are right now. Making the most of where we are and the best of all situations. Living life. Loving my wife.
Cheers.
I wish I could have gone to the game.
EDIT: The Denver Broncos logo picture that was hotlinked here has been removed. Ah well. The one below will have to suffice.

I guess it should be said. . .happy Thanksgiving, friends. What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Today, my brother in law, Joe, and his girlfriend, Heather, will be joining us. Our friend Heather (a different Heather) will be joining us as well. It’ll be a small gathering but it should be fun. Sonya will hopefully drop in for a while and maybe we’ll see a few other friends. If you’re in Dallas and still don’t have a place to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving with friends, let us know. We’d love to have you!
Take care of yourselves this weekend. Take a minute to offer up some gratitude to whoever deserves it in your life. If you think about it, even if life has dealt you a crap hand, you still owe your thanks to someone. Make sure you do that.
Oh, and by the way, kick some Cowboys ass, Denver!
I’m using up some of my vacation time this week. Who’s up for hangin’?

I just found out that one of the greatest concert videos of all time is getting released on DVD early next year. This is a very good thing.

More Cowbell?

Today was a pleasant reminder–or, rather, affirmation–of how good life is in spite of itself. Good times with Marc out at the disc golf course. Fun evening with the Mayabbs, the Greneauxs, Jana, and Sonya and her friend Deanna. Good day.
The last seven days have issued my small little loving family a beating when it comes to quality rest. Long story short: I have obstructive sleep apnea. I have to use a CPAP when I sleep. I wore the mask a little too tightly which bruised the bridge of my nose. The bruise started bleeding. The wound became infected. I called my doc last Friday night and he tells me to go to the ER, worried that if gone unchecked, that the infection will spread to my eyes. He tells me I might need surgery, but thank God, it didn’t come to that. They prescribe some antibiotics and send me home. Great, but now I can’t wear my CPAP until the wound heals which means, if I’m lucky enough to get any sleep, the quality of the rest will be about as good as that of a runner in the middle of a marathon. My ever-loving wife is now worried that since I can’t wear the CPAP mask, that I’ll stop breathing. Of course, lapses of breathing are inherent with sleep apnea. She’s worried sick that I won’t start breathing again. Therefore, she’s not sleeping either becuase she’s monitoring my sleep. If I stop breathing, she wakes me up.
We haven’t slept since last Thursday night. I’ll be glad to get some rest again soon. Good news is, the wound is almost completely healed.
