The Right Place at the Right Time

Have you ever been at a place in life where you feel like your mind, body, and spirit are all in a good place? This may not be a new concept to you. It is to me though…at least relatively. At least, I’ve not really considered it before. I’ve had at times in my life some combination of the above have been available to me, and in in the distant past, I’ve had times where all three were in remarkably bad places. But I think for the first time in my life — at least that I can recall — I’m in the place where all three are in check and I’m living, growing, being challenged, being restored and preserved in a way that was intended by my Creator.

It’s a good place to be.

American Idol: Top 8

Posted on April 9th, 2008 in Ramblings | No Comments »

Well, I called Ramiele’s home-going last week. Let’s see if I can get it right this week.

I think last night’s American Idol show was the most entertaining since the night of the Lennon/McCartney songbook. My favorites were Jason Castro and…well…believe it or not, Kristy Lee Cook. Maybe it’s a good thing she stayed on the show.

I really wish that Carly would have done better…she picked a powerhouse of a song, but just seemed to be in a different place last night. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the bottom three. Michael Johns was good, but not great, and if it’s possible for him to have a bad night, David Cook’s was last night.

I think we’ll see Syesha, Carly, and David Cook in the bottom three with either Syesha or Carly heading home.

Weight Watchers: Week 8 Update

Posted on April 2nd, 2008 in Ramblings | 2 Comments »

Today marks eight weeks that I’ve been doing this Weight Watchers thing. At today’s weigh-in, I’ve lost just under 20 pounds. I think I’m going to start stepping it up a little bit to speed up the process. I’ve become increasingly inspired by Marko’s accomplishments in this area. He’s down 46.7 pounds in the same timeframe and is 10 years older than me. If he can get this done, I surely can.

John Mayer Is Funny

Those of you who follow Apple events might recall that good ol’ Jobsy has used one of my guitar heroes a few times to close out his events. John Mayer is an unabashed Apple fanboy. He also happens to be pretty hilarious.

So, you know when you’re using an application on your computer and it crashes, you have the option to send an error report? Apple has the same thing. You can even add comments to your error report. Well, Johnny-Boy recently had a problem with his iTunes Media Player and took the opportunity to send his error report with comments.

Apparently it worked. He posted this follow up on his blog a couple days after the initial report:

So, uh, hey everyone? The report function works.

Turns out Apple really does read crash reports, and takes them seriously enough to have a department whose only objective is to log, group, prioritize and resolve bug issues. One of the technicians told me that in some cases they’ll ask a customer to send in their device while sending out a replacement immediately. And in the most extreme cases, they’ve been known to send a technician to a customer’s home.

Says the tech, “We take crash reports seriously on our side, because for us it’s just like being able to talk directly with the customer while the problem is happening. The information that we get from the automated system is perfect for helping us solve the problem, and obviously the customers comments can take it one step further.”

I found this all quite amusing.

American Idol: Catching Up From Last Week

Posted on April 1st, 2008 in American Idol, Music, Pop Culture, Television | No Comments »

Last week was Top 10 week. Here’s my short analysis:

With the exceptions of Michael Johns, David Cook, and maybe Carly Smithson, it was another crapfest. And to top it off, America sent the wrong guy home. Again.

This season started off pretty week and is rapidly descending into the suck abyss. Tonight promises to continue the trend with Dolly Parton night.

More later.
